Whats Involved

Level 3 Award in Education and Training AET (QCF) is an introductory, knowledge based teaching qualification. It is the minimum mandatory qualification for learners planning to teach in the Learning and Skills Sector. AET was previously known as PTLLS qualification. Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) is an introductory, knowledge based teaching qualification which can be undertaken by individuals who are not yet in a teaching role (pre-service), or are currently teaching (in-service).

The qualification is considered a foundation for those with little or no previous experience of teaching or training.

If you are interested in taking teaching as a career, AET is your first step as it prepares you for teaching or training in a wide range of contexts.

Assessment -
To successfully complete your studies you need to write 5 assignments, submit a portfolio of evidence, and attach at least one reflective learning journal. For the practical side of the qualification a micro teaching is required, which can be done online or at our venue after which a self-evaluation form is filled and submitted on your Moodle account.

Age:19+

Qualification:
Level 3 qualification in your specialist subject area
Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
GSE grade C or above
Some employers might request a valid DBS Certificate

International Students:
If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS (Academic) 5.5 or equivalent that is approved by the Home Office ( like Trinity ISE 1 or Trinity ISE 2).

Qualification obtained

Level 3 Award in Education and Training AET (QCF).

Successful learners can progress to other teaching, training, assessment and internal quality assurance qualifications such as:

-Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (QCF)
-Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (QCF)
-Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and
-Practice Level 4 Award in Learning and Development
