Our dreams communicate our innermost thoughts and feelings through symbology and hidden meaning. The Dream Therapy and Analysis Diploma Course uncovers these mysteries of the unconscious mind, teaches sleep techniques to improve dream quality, and provides guidance and advice on setting up your own practice.

The Dream Therapy and Analysis Diploma Course looks at how the ways dreams have been understood throughout history, by various religious groups and prominent figures in the study of dreams. You’ll learn how dream analysis was conceived and how it has evolved. You’ll also be guided through the process of sleeping and the multiple physiological stages involved. The course outlines each of these steps and the cycle of sleep, examining what happens and why.

You’ll discover how our dreams change, from pre-birth through to old age. To interpret dreams, they need to be recorded. The Dream Therapy and Analysis Diploma Course teaches you how to create and use a dream journal and how Dream Art Therapy can be employed as an alternative method of recording dreams.

You’ll be exposed to the two main approaches to dream analysis: the symbolic and decoding methods. This knowledge provides a strong foundation of understanding before learning about modern dream analysis and the importance of understanding metaphors in dreams.

A common reason for a client’s initial visit to a dream therapist is recurring dreams. This course explains why these occur and the importance of understanding them. You’ll also learn about the place of abstract shapes, sounds, and colours in dreams and what their significance can be.

Through studying the Dream Therapy and Analysis Course, you will understand many common dream scenarios and their meanings. You’ll learn how to analyse the significance of people that appear in dreams, the role of the dreamer and the form they take, and what particular modes of transport and the inclusion of specific items can mean.

Two dream types that are often misinterpreted are explained in the course: scary dreams/nightmares and intimate/fantasy dreams. In the explanation of scary dreams, the course looks at the physical reactions that can occur, the place of fear in dreams, and the meaning of particular bad dreams. Examining intimate/fantasy dreams, the course explains the implications of various types of sex, intimate, fantasy, voyeuristic, and situational dream types, and, again, the physical responses to these that can occur. The Dream Therapy and Analysis Diploma Course considers the difference between night dreams and daydreams, and even what animals and pets may be dreaming of and why.

The course examines sleep itself – the inability to sleep, lack of sleep, and broken sleep patterns. You’ll explore some natural insomnia cures and ways to improve sleep so that you can enjoy a better dream quality. The course covers the effects of sleep deprivation on dreams, the absence of dreams, and dream recollection. It also explains how certain foods, drinks, drugs and activities can stimulate or suppress the process of dreaming.

The Dream Therapy and Analysis Diploma Course provides advice on how to conduct yourself professionally as you begin to take on clients. You’ll learn what the first session with a new client should include and the information you will need from them to provide suitable therapy. You’ll find out what to charge, how to ensure customer care, and how to deal with complaints.

Having explained how to provide dream therapy and analysis and how to work with clients, the course then goes on to advise on how to set up your own business. You’ll learn how to organise the workload, the professionals you will need to help process the paperwork involved and a few marketing tools that will help you to gain clients.
